The role of food commodities on the Poverty Line is much greater than the role of non-food commodities (housing, clothing, education and health). In September 2012, the contribution of the Food Poverty Line to the Poverty Line was 76.200 percent, almost the same as March 2012 which was 76.204 percent.

Food commodities that have a big influence on the Poverty Line value in urban areas are rice, filter clove cigarettes, purebred chicken eggs and tempeh. Meanwhile, commodities that have a big influence on the Poverty Line value in rural areas are rice, filtered clove cigarettes, granulated sugar, tempeh and purebred chicken eggs. Non-food commodities that have a big influence on the Poverty Line value in urban areas are housing, petrol, education and adult women's clothing, while in rural areas they are housing, petrol, children's clothing and electricity.

In the period March 2012-September 2012, the Poverty Depth Index (P1) and Poverty Severity Index (P2) showed an increase.
