Abstract

Lampung Province NTP April 2009 for each subsector was recorded at 110.65 for the Rice & Secondary Crops Subsector (NTP-P), 93.42 for the Horticulture Subsector (NTP-H), 106.02 for the People's Plantation Crops Subsector (NTP-Pr ), 105.34 for the Livestock Subsector (NTP-Pt) and 116.71 for the Fisheries Subsector (NTP-Pi). Meanwhile, the Provincial/Combined NTP was recorded at 106.42, which was an increase of 0.75 percent compared to the previous month, namely 105.63.

The increase in NTP of 0.75 percent occurred due to a high decline in the index paid by farmers of 0.99 percent, while the index received by farmers decreased by 0.24 percent. The commodities that triggered the decline in the index paid by Lampung Province farmers in April 2009 were in particular the decline in commodity prices for rice, yam, trevally, mackerel and vegetables.

If the NTP per subsector in April 2009 is compared with March 2009, it can be seen that three of the five NTP subsectors have increased, namely the rice and secondary crops subsector (1.55%), livestock (1.43%), and fisheries (1.15% ). Meanwhile, the other two subsectors, namely the horticulture subsector and smallholder plantation crops, experienced a decline of 0.37 and 0.99 percent respectively.

Of the 32 provinces reported in April 2009, 18 provinces experienced an increase in the index and 14 provinces experienced a decrease in the index. The highest increase in NTP in April 2009 occurred in Jambi Province, namely 2.26 percent, due to the increase in prices received by farmers in the sub-sectors of smallholder plantation crops, livestock and fisheries. Meanwhile, the largest decline in NTP occurred in the Riau Islands Province, namely a decrease of 2.92 percent, due to the decline in prices received by farmers in the fisheries, horticulture and smallholder plantation crops subsectors.

In April 2009, there was deflation in rural areas in Lampung Province amounting to 1.37 percent due to the decline in the price index in three expenditure groups, namely: foodstuffs (3.03%), clothing (0.02%), and transportation and communications (0,02%). 82%). Meanwhile, three other groups experienced an increase in the index, namely prepared food (0.43%), housing (1.28%), and health (1.16%). One other group, namely education, recreation and sports, did not experience changes.
