Head of the Lampung Province BPS Endang Retno Sri Subiyandani said that he would again conduct a cost of living survey (SBH) to obtain the latest public consumption patterns. This data will be the latest weighing chart in calculating the inflation rate recorded by BPS every month. The 2022 Cost of Living Survey conducted in order to update the base year for calculating inflation by BPS. The last one was updated in 2018. He said, along with online shopping trends and public consumption patterns that were disrupted after the pandemic, there were many changes in people's consumption.
Furthermore, he explained, the Cost of Living survey conducted at BPS Mesuji which covered 1600 respondent households throughout 2022. Endang added that the current inflation released by BPS refers to public spending patterns in normal situations before the pandemic. As the pandemic has lasted for almost two years, BPS has received many inputs to pay more attention to changes in consumption patterns in releasing national inflation figures, provincial inflation and district/city inflation. "With the cost of living survey that we will conduct next year, we will get a picture of the actual pattern of public spending in Mesuji Regency," he said.
