This March, the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) throughout Indonesia carried out the activity of Updating the Geospatial Framework and Wilkerstat Load ST2023. This activity is the first step in preparation for the Agricultural Census activities to be carried out in 2023. There are several things that will be carried out in the Wilkerstat 2022 activity, including identifying the wilkerstat load in the SLS/Non-SLS area and agricultural families in the area, then identifying whether there are urban farming activities in the SLS area, geotagging agricultural infrastructure such as rice mills, agricultural cooperatives, and barns, and finally geotagging on land cover samples that are already available on the Wilkerstat android application.
This Wilkerstat 2022 activity covers all existing census blocks, including the Special Census Block. In the Mesuji Regency area itself, there are 8 Special Census Blocks out of 970 existing Census Blocks. Of the 8 special census blocks, there are 6 special census blocks located in the PT. Silva Inhutani Lampung which is located in the Talang Batu area (Register 45).
Thursday, March 10, 2022 a team from BPS Mesuji Regency, accompanied by a guide, traveled to PT. Silva Inhutani Lampung to geotagging land cover on the 6 Special BSs. The journey from the office to PT. Silva takes about 2 hours, this is because on Wednesday night it rained in the Mesuji area, making the road to PT. Silva is very difficult to get through. On the way to the location, the Mesuji Regency BPS Team had to slip and fall several times due to the slippery road. Arriving at the Office of PT. Silva Inhutani Lampung, the BPS team of Mesuji Regency immediately met with the General Office of the office to request permission to carry out geotagging activities in the PT. Silva Inhutani Lampung.
The geotagging process takes one full day to complete 6 Census Blocks. The challenge in geotagging is to be able to enter right into the land cover polygons which are sometimes in areas that cannot be reached because there is no access, such as swampy waters or shrubs. Of the 6 census blocks that were tagged, there was 1 census block whose land cover polygons were completely unreachable and finally tagged at the closest accessible point.
Finally, the team was able to complete the geotagging activity on these 6 Special Census Blocks at 5 pm and then immediately said goodbye to PT.Silva's General Section. Finally, a word appeared after today's activity, namely "Keep smiling, even though you've fallen in the mud".
